Head of Clinical Negligence

We are proud to be recruiting for a national law firm that is known for its serious injury and complex litigation work. As they continue to invest in their Clinical Negligence department, they are seeking a strategic, experienced, and inspiring Head of Clinical Negligence to lead the team — in a remote-first capacity.
The Role:
This is a senior, non-fee-earning leadership role. As Head of Clinical Negligence, you will drive the strategic growth, operational excellence, and overall performance of the department. You will oversee the delivery of exceptional client service, manage a team of solicitors and paralegals, and act as a key figure within the firm’s senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Clinical Negligence department across multiple locations

Set and implement strategic plans for team growth, development, and performance

Provide guidance on complex legal issues and ensure consistency in case handling

Coach, mentor, and support lawyers and paralegals at all levels

Oversee resourcing, performance, and progression within the team

Collaborate with other Heads of Department and Partners on wider firm initiatives

Represent the team in strategic meetings, BD activity, and external events
Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with significant experience in clinical negligence (ideally 10+ years PQE)

Strong leadership experience within a Clinical Negligence or Serious Injury team

Proven track record of growing and developing legal teams and individuals

Excellent understanding of team structures, compliance, and legal service delivery

Strategic thinker with a proactive, collaborative, and hands-on leadership style
-
No caseload – this is a pure leadership and people-focused position
