Solicitor – Actions Against the Police

We are looking to recruit a Solicitor (Grade B or above, or equivalent experience) to join a nationally recognised Actions Against the Police team, known for handling complex and often high-profile litigation and achieving strong outcomes for clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging, meaningful cases within a supportive and progressive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a varied Actions Against the Police caseload from start to finish, including complex civil actions

• Running litigation matters autonomously with appropriate supervision where required

• Attending Court hearings across England and Wales, with occasional overnight stays

• Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other legal documentation

• Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and other third parties

• Assisting with the supervision, mentoring, and development of junior colleagues

• Contributing to the continued growth and success of the department

About You

• Qualified Solicitor (open to candidates at different levels, Grade B+ or equivalent experience)

• Strong litigation experience is essential

• Experience in Actions Against the Police or complex civil litigation is highly desirable

• Able to manage a caseload independently and prioritise effectively

• Confident attending court and dealing with contentious matters

• A collaborative and supportive team player
